THE 4th Tuguegarao City Mayor's Cup Kiddies and 2050 Non-Master Rapid Chess Tournament will get underway on August 10 and 11 at the SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown in Tuguegarao City.

 

A joint project of the Local Government Unit, Brgy. Centro 08 and SM Center Tuguegarao to be sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, organized by Cagayan Valley Chess Association-Tuguegarao chapter and backed up by mayor Jefferson P. Soriano and vice mayor Bienvenido C. De Guzman II.

 

Organizers of the event said the two-day chessfest will be a seven-round Swiss System format tournament. The time control will be 20 minutes + 5 seconds delay mode in this two division (Kiddies and 2050 Non-Master Chess) class.

 

Cash prizes await winners with the kiddies, 12 years old and below division champion on August 10 taking home P1,500 while the next three placers will receive P1,000, P800, and P500. Fifth to 10th placers will also receive P300 while 11th to 15th placers will earn P200 each.

 

Special prizes will also be given to the top female and youngest participant worth P200 each.

 

The non-master champion on August 11, meanwhile, will bag P6,000 while the runner-up will settle for P3,000 and the next two players will go home with P2,000 and P1,000. 

 

Fifth to 10th placers as well top female, top junior and youngest participant will also bring home P500 each.

 

Among the early entries are Rainier Monteclaro, Eunice Bucayu, Ferdinand Guiquing Jr. and Giamaine Guiquing.
