General Trias City, Cavite---Athletes from Bethel Academy School of General Trias City, Cavite will be competing for the Open Kitchen Kiddies 14 Years old and below Rapid Chess Championship 2019 on June 1, 2019, Saturday, 8:00am at the Open Kitchen, Rockwell Business Center-Sheridan, Highwayhills in Mandaluyong City.
Under the guidance of Bethel Academy School Administrator Pastor Ted M. Ribo, PH coach Ederwin Estavillo and Mariners transport, the chess players from Bethel Academy School competing are Jirah Floravie Cutiyog (grade 4), Carlyn Maneja (grade 6), Geraldine Mae Camarines (grade 7) and Jireh Dan Jaime Cutiyog (grade 9).
Last Tuesday, Bethel Academy School Administrator Pastor Ted M. Ribo said that Jirah Floravie Cutiyog (grade 4) enjoying a full scholarship for her education due to her impressive performance in the past International chess tournament, wining medals in Malaysia (2017) and Thailand (2018) while Carlyn Maneja (grade 6), Geraldine Mae Camarines (grade 7) and Jireh Dan Jaime Cutiyog (grade 9) will get a discount for their education.
It shall be recalled that Young Filipino athletes from General Trias City, Cavite who won medals during the Thailand Pattaya Youth Chess Championship 2018 in Pattaya, Thailand expressed jubilation as the City Government rolled out a red carpet welcome for their achievements and for bringing pride and honor to the city and the country as a whole.
Mayor Antonio “Ony” Ferrer and Baby Lyn Kempiz of City Mayor’s Office led City Government officials and employees in honoring the chess player gold medallist Clark Jemuel Cabatian, gold medallist Relghie Columna,gold medallist Bonjoure Fille Suyamin, silver medallist Jirah Floravie Cutiyog and silver medallist Geraldine Mae Camarines, among others during a courtesy call.
Meanwhile, the Rate of Play for the Open Kitchen Kiddies 14 Years old and below Rapid Chess Championship 2019 on June 1 will be a 20 minutes plus 5 seconds time delay with a seven Rounds Swiss System Mode of Play.
Registration Fee is P500 and limited to 120 participants only. Requirement is Photo copy of birth certificate.Top prize is P5,000 plus a trophy and a medal. One brand new chess bag to be raffle courtesy of Arturo Turbanada.
