Power-breaker Jeffrey "The Bull" De Luna of the Philippines to Joshua Filler of Germany, 8-11, failing to advance to the finals of the partypoker money-rich 43rd US Open 9-Ball Championship being held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Convention Center, Las Vegas on Saturday (Manila time).

De Luna take a 3-1 to 5-2 commanding lead in the early stages of the game. But think change in the second half of the match as the currently World number 1 Filler remained in touch. He didn’t lead again until he went ahead 8-7 and though De Luna replied at that stage, it would be the last rack he won as Filler moved to the hill and then to the final.

" I may not get you today (US Open 9-ball title) but one day in God’s perfect time. Lost 11-8 to Joshua Filler. My US 9 ball Open campaign has come to an end. Thanks for all the support i hope i made my fellow countryman proud. Thank you Lord for everything." said Jeffrey much known "The Bull" in the pool world.

Her wife Dianne had something to say. "Cheer up (Jeffrey). You’ve come a long way and we are so proud of you. Stay focus on your goals. We love you."

Wu Jiaqing of China, meantime toppled Chang Yu-Lung of Chinese-Taipei, 11-5, in another final-four duel to arranged a race to 13 finals with Filler. But Filler subdued Wu and went on to bag the $50,000 prize plus the famous US Open green jacket and the newly-commissioned Barry Behrman trophy.

Wu settled for runner-up purse of $25,000. De Luna and Chang, on the other hand did't go home empty-handed with a consolation prize of $12,000 each for reaching the semis.-Marlon Bernardino-
