Country's executive woodpushers compete as 2019 PECA National Executive Chess Championships (Western Visayas Qualifying leg) is on

CHESS takes center stage as the 2019 Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) National Executive Chess Championships (Western Visayas Qualifying leg) gets underway on Ferbruary 9, 2019 (Saturday), 8am at the SM Southpoint, SM City Iloilo, Benigno Avenue, Mandurriao in Iloilo City.

"The Tournament is open to all qualified members of PECA whose ages are 25 years-old and above." said seven-times Philippine Executive Champion Dr. Jenny Tarrosa Mayor.

"We expect very interesting and exciting games ahead in the 2019 Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA)," added Dr. Jenny Tarrosa Mayor, one of the prime movers of PECA who is also the incoming president.

According to National Arbiter Cyril Telesforo and National Master/National Arbiter Carlito Lavega of Iloilo Provincial Chess Association (IPCA), the tournament will be played in 6 to 7-round Swiss System, depending of the number of participants using the 20 minutes plus five seconds delay per move format with the winner taking home P10,000 , second place P7,000, third place P5,000, fourth place P3,000 and fifth place P2,000.

Category winners for the Top Senior, Top 1900 and Below, Top Unrated, Top Western Visayas and Top Female will get P1,000 each.

A registration fee of P1,000 is set for early birds on or before February 8, 2019. On-site registration fee will increase by P200, and it will become P1,200 on February 9, 2019. PECA membership fee is P1,000.
