It’s all systems go for the staging of the Alphaland All Masters Rapid chess tournament which will unfold December 22 at the Activity Hall, 2nd Floor, Alphaland Makati Place, Ayala Avenue corner Malugay Street in Makati City.
Titled "Handog Christmas sa Mga Philippine Chess Masters," the one-day chessfest is organized by Chess Circle club founding head at president Leonardo "Nards" Jimenez at vice president Exy Perez and will serve as a Christmas treat for all chess masters of the country (NM, IM, FM, GM).
The event is also in celebration of Jimenez’s birthday.
Asia's First Grandmaster Eugene Torre and Lea Bautista serves as the coordinators of the event, a nine-round Swiss-System, Rapid 15 minutes plus 3 second increments time control format.
"Filipino titled chess players who are legible to join are GrandMaster / Women GrandMaster, International Master/Women International Master, FIDE Master / Women FIDE Master and National Master/Women National Master and no entry fee," said Jimenez during the press launch.
Champions will receive a P10,000 cash prize, while the second to sixth placers will get P7,000, P4,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
The top three lady finishers will also have P3,000, P2,000 at P1,000 consolation prizes, even as the Top 15 finishers get P500 for their efforts
