Some of the country's woodpushers will vie for top honors when the Christmas Blitz Chess Tournament gets underway on December 19 at the Philippine Academy For Chess Excellence (PACE) at number 56 Mindanao Avenue, Project 6, Quezon City.
Dubbed as "Pamaskong Alay ng Ajedrez Blitz Fun Palaro at Pagtipon-tipon", the event is supported by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP), Artillery Foundation of the Philippines Inc., (API) and Philippine Academy For Chess Excellence (PACE) and will applying blitz time control three minutes plus two seconds increment.
"Free registration but limited for 100 players only in a first come, first serve." said National coach Grandmaster Jayson Gonzales." The champion will pocket P7,000 plus chess set and certificate of achievement while the second to sixth placers will take home P5,000 plus chess set and certificate of achievement, P3,000 plus chess set and certificate of achievement, P1,500 plus chess set and certificate of achievement, P1,200 plus chess set and certificate of achievement, P1,000 plus chess set and certificate of achievement and P800 plus chess set and certificate of achievement, respectively.
For those players who made it to the top 10 will each receive P500 plus chess set and certificate of achievement.
The 11th and 20th placers will not go home empty-handed with a consolation prize of chess set and certificate of achievement.-Marlon Bernardino-
