Reynaldo Acosta tops Rapid Chess Tournament

JOURNEYMAN Reynaldo Acosta won the Non-Master 2050 and below Rapid Chess Tournament, combined Juniors and Seniors division with an impressive fashion held last Sunday in San Juan City.

Acosta collected 4.5 points on account of four wins and a draw to win the five round tournament organized by West Crame Chess Club headed by its’ president Dante Bajaro and vice-president Mauro T. Supil Jr.and supported by sportsman Julius Anthony Munoz.

Rogelio Taopa, Roneto Taopa and Mark Louie Velasco finished in a tie for second to fourth placers with 4 points while Gilbert Taopa placed 5th overall with 3.5 points.

Rounding up to the top-10 circle with 3 points each were Edwin Consulta, Jun Baon, Noel Jay "Super B" Estacio, Amor De Vera and Franklin Mata.

In the Blitz Non-Master tournament, Genghis Katipunan Imperial took the title with 4.5 points followed by solo second place Ricardo "Larry" Jimenez with 4 points.
