SINGAPORE---International Master elect Edgar Reggie Olay dominated the Open competition, while Jayson Jacobo Tiburcio reigned in the Challengers' category to capture the championship in the Moon Cake Rapid Open Chess Championships last Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Bukit Timah Shopping Centre in Singapore here.

Olay, a certified FIDE chess teacher and chess instructor here topped the Open division after posting three wins and two draws.
The nine-years-old Tiburcio, who hails from Marikina City, meantime repeat the feat in the Challengers' category as he kept his clean slate with 5.5 points.
In winning the tournament, the Makilala, North Cotabato pride Olay edged Filipino and United States chess master Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr.of Barangay Malamig, Mandaluyong City in the tie break points who settled for second place.

Arena Grandmaster and Fide Master elect Robert Suelo Jr. placed third over-all.

Rounding up to the top six (6) finishers were 4th place Aldrin Wong of Singapore, 5th place Lincoln Yap of the Philippines and 6th place Richard Lean of Singapore. (AGM Robert Suelo Jr.)
