Roberto Suelo Jr. will be seeking to clinch his coveted International Master title in Singapore and Malaysian tournaments to compete the elusive tiara before year ends.

Suelo's Fide Master (FM) title is on process right now while he already achieve his online Arena Grandmaster (AGM) title, and he is expected to face strong challenges in his upcoming tournaments.

"I have to learn to beat stronger players to get the coveted International Master title." said Suelo, who paid a courtesy call to Mandaluyong City ABC president and Barangay Malamig chairman Marlon Manalo on Tuesday.

"I have no doubt that (Roberto) Suelo will get his full pledge IM title in the near future," said Marlon Manalo, former world snooker and billiard champion, League of Barangays National PRO.

The 1996 Philippine Junior Champion and former top player of Barangay Malamig, Rizal Technological University Chess Team in Mandaluyong City needed to beat national coach Fide Master and International Master candidate Roel Abelgas in their one game play off match to advance in the finals of the National Chess Championships which won by defending champion Haridas Pascua of Baguio City.

Fondly called "Nonoy" (which means a kid) in the chess world described himself as ready and confident in his much-awaited chess campaign in the upcoming 41st Queenstown Chess Club Championship 2018 to be held on June 24, 2018 at the Queenstown Chess Club in Singapore.

He is also schedule to play in the Nangyang Racial Harmony Team Chess Challenge 2018 on June 28, 2018 followed by ASEAN Chess Academy July edition, both will be held in Singapore.

His main tournament at the 15th Malaysian Chess Festival on August 17 to 27, 2018 and the Penang International Open and Johor International Open slated on December to be held in Malaysia.(Marlon Bernardino)
