Manila, Philippines---Woman Grandmaster Janelle Mae Frayna and International Master-elect John Marvin Miciano, two of the country’s hottest young chess star will be playing five tournaments in European chess circuit in Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

Accompanied by their coach Grandmaster Jayson Gonzales, Frayna and Miciano will be seeing in action in the Barbera, del Valles International del Valles International set July 4 to 12 in Spain; the 20th Obert International set July 13 to 21 in Sant Marti, Barcelona; the 44th Sitges Open also in Spain, the 22nd Hogeschool Zeland tournament on August 4 to 11 in the Netherlands and 2018 Brugse Masters on August 12 to 16 in Belgium.

The 21-year-old Frayna from Legaspi City, Albay, a cum laude psychology graduate of Far Eastern University, aims to raise her rating to more than 2400, which will make her a full-fledged IM as well as put her closer to the world's top 10 female players.

The 17-year-old pride Miciano from Davao City whose live rating is now over 2450 target to earn a GM norm and eventually become a GM before 2200.

Frayna is also scheduled to play for the top board in the women's squad of the Philippine Team in the upcoming 2018 World Chess Olympiad in September in Batumi, Georgia.

Frayna who is fresh from a runner-up finish in the 2018 JAPFA Women's Grandmaster Tournament in Indonesia last May 5, 2018 is 1 out of 3 brand endorser from the latest Buscopan Venus Digital Ad campaign.
