Manila, Philippines---Filipino Conrado Diaz, a certified United States Chess Federation (USCF) chess master ruled the 2018 Spring Tuesday Night Marathon Chess Championships on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Mechanics' Institute Chess Club in San Francisco, California, USA.

The General Trias, Cavite native Diaz collected 7.5 points on seven wins and a draw to win the eight-round tournament.

Diaz, a former top player of multi-titled Adamson University chess team under the banner of coach Christopher Rodriguez pocketed the top prize of $800 for his effort.

"First of all I would like to thank God for winning this presitigious international chess tournament. My wife who is always beside me and my relative and friends as well," said Diaz.

Derek O'Connor, Ezra Pau Chambers, Aleksandr Ivanov ended in a three-way tie for second with 6.5 points. They received $433.33 each.

It shall be recalled that Diaz finished in a tie for first place along with another Filipino entry Romulo Fuentes in the 18th Bob Burger Open Chess Championships last January 6, 2018 at the Mechanics' Institute Chess Club in San Francisco, California, USA.-Marlon Bernardino-
