CABUYAO, Laguna top player Alexandra Sydney Paez, a  Grade 8 Student of Colegio De San Juan de Letran-Calamba, won all the marbles as she finished unbeaten to win the 26th Golden Mind Chess Tournament (Under-14) was held last Sunday,February 4, 2018 at the AVR Building, Tagumpay Canteen, Tagumpay Supermarket, Lipa City, Batangas.
The 13-year-old Paez, the daughter of Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) Public Relation Officer (PRO) Dr. Alfred Paez,  scored a total of perfect 7.0 points in the seventh-round Swiss System format event to annex the title and the P3,000 champion purse plus a trophy.
Rounding up top 9 were Rigil Kent Rosel Pahamtang, Precious Nicole Lasin, Ian Gabriel Perocho, Ronald William Geron, Rafah Kamillah Ramos, Jay-R Mindajao and Rexell Justin Robinson.
Adjudged category winners were Rafah Kamillah Ramos (top Under 10), Jeroniel Perez (top under 😎 and Herson Bangay (top under 6).
It shall be recalled that Alexandra Sydney also won the 23rd Golden Mind Chess Tournament (Under-14) was held last November 5, 2017 at the Tagumpay Canteen, Poblacion in Lipa City, Batangas. She scored a total of 6.5 points in the seventh-round Swiss System format event.
Recently, she tied for 2nd place in the 2018 National Age-Group Chess Championships -Under 14 - Girls (Visayas Leg) in Kalibo, Aklan last January 27, 2018.-Marlon Bernardino-

THE Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) will hold its second monthly tournament of the year on February 24, 2018 dubbed as 2018 Alphaland National Executive Chess Championships  will be held at the Activity Hall Alphaland Makati Place, Ayala Avenue in Makati City.
PECA founding president Atty. Cliburn Anthony Orbe and Press Relation Officer (PRO)Dr. Alfred Paez said first leg champion engineer Benjamin "Benjie" Esquejo will lead the list of participants.
Other entries include seven-times Philippine executive champion Dr. Jenny Mayor, Makati Hope Christian School head coach Marguel Soria, OFW engineer Joseph Galindo, Sales Director Samivin V. Delos Santos of SM Development Corporation, Jason Rojo and Joselito Asi of Department of Education, IT Manager Edwin Sison of Vital C Health Products, Inc., businessmen Noel Garcia, Lester Bacay, Niel Dumlao, Emil Colindres and Jun Rivera, IT head Joselito Cada of Social Housing Finance Corporation and Laurence "Larry" Dumadag of Unesco.
“The competition is open to company executives, career officers, businessmen and professionals,” said Atty. Cliburn Anthony A. Orbe, also the treasurer of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.
Alexander "Alex" Dinoy of the Chess Arbiter Union of the Philippines (CAUP) is the chief arbiter in the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) sanctioned tournament in close cooperation with Kasparov Chess Foundation Asia Pacific.-Marlon Bernardino-
