MANILA---Pinagharian ni Iloilo City-native John Franz De Asis ang katatapos na 2021 Philippine Sports Commission–Pilipinas Para Games (PPG) Online Chess Competition for people with disabilities virtually na ginanap sa Tornelo Platform nitong Linggo, November 21, 2021.
Naka kolekta si De Asis ng 5.5 points mula five wins at one draw para magkampeon sa six-round tournament at maiuwi ang gold medal, stuffed toy at ang P30,000 top prize in sa P1 (Physical Impaired)-Men category.


Kabilang sa mga tinalo ni De Asis ay sina Apollo Cabilan sa first round, Sean Mervick Tiu sa second round, Rogelio Clemente sa third round, Sol Tiamzon sa fourth round at Ronnie Villa sa fifth at penultimate round.
Tabla siya kay Eric Abanco sa sixth at final round.
Si Abanco na ipinagmamalaki naman ng Bacolod City ay tumapos sa second spot na may 5 points para maibulsa ang runner-up prize P20,000, silver medal at stuffed toy.
Nasa third place si Jordaine Tupaz ng Talisay City na may similar 5 points subalit mababaw ang tie break para magkasya sa P10,000, bronze medal at stuffed toy.
May tig 5 points din sina 4th placer Alexis Elinon at 5th placer Joseph Gregana na nakatangap ng tig P1,000 plus medals.
Mga nakapasok sa top ten (10) na nakakopo ng tig P1,000 ay sina sixth Ralph Anthony Velasco (4.5 pts), seventh Ronnie Villa (4 pts.), eight Sol Tiamzon (4 pts.), ninth Ricardo Merano (4 pts.) at tenth Max Dave Tellor (4 pts.).
Sa distaff side ay ginapi ng dalawang beses ni Aime Dumagpi kontra si Clarence Oreña, para masikwat ang P1-Women’s top prize.
Ang iba pang notable winners ay sina Geronimo Torres (gold), Kenneth Namisato (silver) at Emmanuel Closas Jr.(bronze) para sa B1 totally blind men's class, Yoland Pespes (gold), Kyla Jane Langue (silver) at Abigail Magsanoc (bronze) para sa B1 totally blind women's side, Mark Christian Evangelista (gold), Ireneo Melchor Pizzaro Jr. (silver) at Abraham Peligro (bronze) para sa B2 visualy impaired mens portion, Siera Mae Requiron (gold), Regina Abogado (silver) at Marilou Lucero (bronze) para sa B2 visualy impaired women's category.
Ang three-day event inspired sa success ng country’s Para woodpushers sa international stage sa pag produce ng first-ever Filipino world champion na si 2020 International Physically Disabled Chess Association (IPCA) titlist Fide Master Sander Severino at fourth-place finish sa team competition sa recent 4th World Chess Championship.
