MANILA, Philippines---Dinomina ng mga Filipino woodpushers ang katatapos na International Chess Day Blitz Tournament 2021 na ginanap sa Dubai Chess & Culture Club sa Dubai, United Arab Emirates nitong Hulyo 24, 2021.
Nakamit ng Filipinos ang top four position at eight sa top 10 finishers sa seven-country face-to-face over the board chess tournament na ipinatupad ang time control 3 minutes plus 2 seconds increment na tampok ang 31 players.
Giniba ni International Master Oliver Dimakiling si Woman Grandmaster Mahri Geldiyeva ng Turkmenistan sa ninth at final round para makopo ang titulo. Nakaipon si Dimakiling ng 8.5 points sa nine outings. Tumapos si John Vincent Cayaba ng second na may 7 points.
Sina Arena Grandmaster Dandel Fernandez, Nelman Lagutin at Kush Devnani ng India ay kapwa nakalikom ng tig 6.5 points subalit nakamit ni Fernandez ang third place honors dahil sa virtue ng superior tiebreak output na may 47.5 points sa Bucholz system. Nagkamada naman ni Lagutin ang 45 points na sinundan ni Devnani na may 43.5 tiebreak points.
"We are very happy about the results of the seven-country face-to-face over the board chess tournament using the time control of 3 minutes plus 2 seconds increment that feature 31 players because eight of the top 10 finishers are Filipino," sabi ni ni Arena Grandmaster Dandel Fernandez na ipinagmamalaki ng Novelty Chess Club ni sportsman Sonsea Agonoy na sariwa pa sa tie for 3rd to 5th place finish sa Executive Division ng 4th Annual National Chooks To Go Rapid Chess Championships.
Pasok sa top 10 ay sina sixth John-John Mendoza (6 pts.), seventh Abdulla Murad ng UAE (6 pts.), eight Rocky Pabalan, ninth Winnie Felix (5 pts.) at tenth Francis Erwin Dimarucut (5 pts.).-Marlon Bernardino-
