Eight-time Illinois USA Champion (IM) International Master Angelo Abundo Young flashed his old deadly form after winning the Gerardo Cabellon online chess tournament last Saturday, April 10, 2021 at lichess.org platform.
The 1982 Philippine Junior Champion and 1982 Asian Junior third placer Young, IM Supergelo 12 on Lichess, finished with 70 points in 26 games for a win rate of 81 percent and performance rating of 2573 to win the 1-day event which attracted 273 woodpushers worldwide.
The online tournament had time control of one minute with an increment of two second and players must win as many games in two hours of play, according to 1996 Philippine Junior Champion and Bayanihan Chess Club secretary-general Fide Master Robert Suelo Jr.

"I try to train hard and practice again for the coming over the board chess tournament." added Young, who also won the gold on board one in the 1st Hampton Gardens Chess Team Tournament was held in Pasig City three years ago.
Noel Jay Estacio, the pride of San Dionisio, Iloilo took the second spot with 59 points on 26 games and a win rate of 77 percent for a performance rating of 2539.
In third place is 13-time Philippine Open Champion Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. who had 58 points on 30 games and a win rate of 67 percent for a performance rating of 2464.
Rounding up to the top 10 were Kevin Arquero (fourth, 57 points), Candidate Master Chester Neil Reyes (fifth, 50 points), Richard Natividad (sixth, 48 points), Bong Anas (seventh,48 points), National Master Gerry Cabellon (eight, 47 points),Bonn Rainauld Tibod (ninth, 48 points) and National Master Rommel Ganzon (tenth, 47 points).
