Manila, Philippines---Non-Master Elllan Asuela's hot streak continues.
The Bacolod City-based Filipino chess wizard ruled the seventh edition of the monthly Capex Cargo International Open played Sunday, December 20,2020, on lichess.org.


Asuela blew his foes to emerge as champion with 9 points, the same output of second placer Grandmaster Eltaj Safarli of Azerbaijan and 3rd placer Grandmaster Javohir Sindarov of Uzbekistan, whom he beat in the tie break points.
He pocketed P5,000 for his efforts in this 1-day blitz chess tournament, backed up by Capex Cargo Padala Express CEO engr.Vergil J. Bargola and assisted by tournament director United States chess master Rodolfo "Jun" Panopio Jr., Philippine Executive Chess Association president and Arena Grandmaster Dr. Fred Paez and Upper Bicutan Chess Club Inc. top honcho National Master Homer Cunanan.
It was Asuela's second straight triumph in an online chess tournament in the country. Last Saturday, December 19,2020, he topped the Indhie Ana Aguirre Chesstour.
During the Indhie Ana Aguirre Chesstour backed up by Antonio Ivan Aguirre and family, Cebu based Rommel Ganzon placed second with 12.5 points, 2.5 points behind eventual champion Asuela.
The next two spots were occupied by IPCA World Champ Fide Master Sander Severino of Silay City and Ted Ian Montoyo of Bacolod City, both tallied 11.0 points apiece.-Marlon Bernardino-
