Beverly Hills—Keith Thurman vowed to retire Philippine boxing legend Manny Pacquiao on Wednesday as the two fighters traded verbal jabs ahead of the World Boxing Association battle for welterweight supremacy.

The undefeated Thurman, 30, takes on Pacquiao in Las Vegas on July 20 in a contest that pits the WBA’s “super world champion” against the body’s secondary “world” champion.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (May 24, 2019) — Robeisy Ramirez, the former Cuban amateur prodigy who captured Olympic gold in 2012 and 2016, has signed a multi-year contract with Top Rank and will make his long-awaited professional debut later this year.

The 25-year-old Ramirez left the Cuban national team last year while attending a training camp in Mexico, ultimately defecting from his homeland.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (May 25, 2019) — U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jamel "Semper Fi" Herring completed his Hollywood story, upsetting WBO junior lightweight world champion Masayuki "The Judge" Ito via unanimous decision Saturday evening in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,912 at Osceola Heritage Park.

Herring (20-2, 10 KOs), who prevailed by scores of 116-112 and 118-110 2x, accomplished the dream on Memorial Day weekend in front of a host of active and reserve U.S. Marines.

Manny Pacquiao is going to turn Keith Thurman into a runner once he feels his punching power on July 20th in their fight on Fox Sports pay-per-view, according to trainer Freddie Roach. Although Roach isn’t giving examples of Thurman having run in the past during his career, he’s likely thinking of his fights against Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and to some extent Josesito Lopez. Thurman used a lot of movement in those fights when he was trying to elude the pressure that was put on him.

LAUSANNE: Amateur boxing’s governing body the AIBA emerged from talks with the IOC on Monday “optimistic” of retaining the right to organise the event at next year’s Tokyo Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee has frozen boxing’s preparations for next year’s Games as it seeks proof that the AIBA has cleaned up its act after concern over its governance and finances.
