Junior lightweights Luis Melendez and Thomas Mattice stayed ready. The contenders, on less than two weeks’ notice, agreed to face off Friday, Nov. 5 in the eight-round co-feature to the Mikaela Mayer-Maiva Hamadouche title unification tilt at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of Curio Collection by Hilton.

Melendez-Mattice replaces the Janibek Alimkhanuly-Hassan N’Dam middleweight showdown, which has been postponed to a later date.

Canelo Alvarez ripped into lightweight contender Ryan Garcia on Thursday, criticizing him for not being “100% dedicated” to improving by coming to the gym to train.

Canelo says Ryan is wasting his potential, and he wants to see more dedication from him. Ryan trains at the same gym with Canelo under the guidance of Eddy Reynoso, so whatever he does or, in this case, doesn’t do, is seen by Alvarez.

Shakur Stevenson snatched at Jamel Herring's world title belt during the pre-fight press conference and weigh-in. After Saturday's virtuoso performance at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Stevenson added some flashy hardware to his collection. Stevenson toppled Herring via 10th-round TKO to win the WBO junior lightweight world title and become a two-weight world champion at 24 years of age.

Former IBF super middleweight champion Jose Uzcategui has tested positive for the banned substance rEPO and has been pulled from his November 13th headliner fight against David Benavidez on SHOWTIME at the Footprint Center, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Premier Boxing Champions [PBC] yanked Uzcategui from the card without waiting for his B-sample to be tested, according to Mike Coppinger.

After a nearly two-year layoff, former junior featherweight world champion Jonathan “Salomon King” Guzman’s comeback begins Saturday, Oct. 30 in an eight-round showdown against Carlos Jackson at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Guzman-Jackson, a strong contender to steal the New York City spotlight, headlines a stacked undercard (ESPN+, 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT) before hometown kid Josue “The Prodigy” Vargas’ step-up test against Jose “Chon” Zepeda in the 10-round junior welterweight main event (ESPN+ 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT).

Terence Crawford says he views former WBA/WBC welterweight champion Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman as a bigger fight than his November 20th title defense against Shawn Porter.

Thurman has a lot more charisma than Crawford, and he’d do all the hard work of promoting a fight with him just as he did when he fought Manny Pacquiao in 2019. Negotiating a fight with Thurman wouldn’t be easy for the Top Rank promoted Crawford because he’s with PBC.

Undisputed junior welterweight world champion Josh Taylor's title defense against top contender Jack Catterall — originally scheduled for Dec. 18 at The OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland — has been postponed to Saturday, Feb. 26 at the same venue due to a knee injury Taylor suffered in training.

Ticket and undercard information will be announced at a later date. The bout will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports and streaming exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S.

Jaron Ennis says the welterweight champions Terence Crawford, Errol Spence Jr., and Yordenis Ugas aren’t on his level now. He feels he’s surpassed all three of them, and it’s going to get worse for them the longer they wait before giving him a title shot.

Ennis (27-0, 25 KOs) is ranked #3 IBF, #5 WBA, #5 WBO, and #6 WBC and getting closer to a point where he’ll be the mandatory challenger for one of those champions.
