Ryan Garcia revealed on Sunday that he’s signed his contract to fight Luke Campbell in November on DAZN. The lightweight clash between Ryan (20-0, 17 KOs) and #2 WBC Campbell (20-3, 16 KOs) will take place behind closed doors at a still to be determined venue.

Campbell, 32, still needs to sign his portion of the contract for the fight to be a done deal, but he’s expected to.

Garcia vs. Campbell will take in the United States on a Golden Boy Promotions card. The winner of the contest will face WBC 135-lb champion, Devin Haney, for his belt in 2021.
Both Campbell and Haney like their chances against Ryan, and they’ll be looking forward to facing him. Haney might not get a chance to fight Garcia if he loses to Campbell.Garcia-Campbell fight has been in the making for a long time. A lot of boxing fans want to get this match over with already. Unfortunately for the fans, they now have to wait another three months before Campbell and Ryan square off in November.

Ryan Garcia Could Be The Underdog
A lot of boxing fans already see this fight as a loss for the 22-year-old Garcia, as he’s taking a big step up in class in facing the 2012 Olympic gold medalist Campbell.

It’s to make an argument that the oddsmakers will pick Garcia as the favorite he’s a lot younger, and he’s not anyone near as good as Campbell during his four-year pro career. When Golden Boy did step Ryan up a notch in putting him in with Carlos Morales in 2018, he almost lost the fight. Indeed, a lot of boxing fans delt that Morales should have been given the victory.

If Ryan wins this fight, he’s going to increase his popularity considerably, but he would still need to defeat Haney to win the WBC lightweight title. That would be another significant hurdle for the big-punching Garcia to deal with, and he may not be ready.

The arguably more dangerous of the two is Campbell. He punches harder than Haney, and he’s got a lot of experience against these fighters:

Vasily Lomachenko
Jorge Linares
Darleys Perez
Yvan Mendy
Derry Mathews
Gary Sykes
Argenis Mendez
Campbell lost to Lomachenko last August by a 12 round unanimous decision, but he gave him a tough fight. That was no easy match for Lomachenko by any stretch of the imagination. Incidentally, that was the last time that Campbell. He’s been out of action ever since that time due to the pandemic.

Garcia In The Biggest Fight Of His Career
“Right now, we’re going to sign the fight contract. The fight is finally going down,” said Ryan Garcia on his Vlog. “This fight is probably going to be the biggest fight of my life.“So I’m going to be ready to go into the trenches and be ready for war and come out on top. One fight isn’t more special than the other. Every fight is to get you to the top.

“I’m climbing that mountain, so every fight matters. This fight matters just as much as the last one, so I’m going to be bringing Everything I’ve got.

“When I’m in camp, it’s a different type of mindset. Nothing can bother me outside of the ring. When I start sparring all the time, I’m just going to be thinking about boxing. I like that feeling, though. It keeps my mind straight,” said King Ryan.

It’s quite obvious that Campbell is the biggest fight of Ryan’s career, as he’s not fought anyone talented. Up until now, journeyman Carlos Morales is the best name on Garcia’s resume. So someone like Campbell is a major step up in class.

Golden Boy Promotions had talked of wanting to put together a fight between Ryan and former three-division world champion Jorge Linares, but it couldn’t be made.

The pandemic got in the way of that fight, which is a good thing for Ryan. Linares beat Campbell a couple of years ago, and he’s looking good right now. A couple of weeks ago, Linares said in an interview that Ryan isn’t ready to fight someone like him, and he would have lost.

King Ryan Focused On Campbell
“All this work and stress, it’s finally happened, but this is the biggest fight of your career, in my opinion, at this moment,” said Ryan Garcia’s manager Guadalupe Valencia.“There’s going to be bigger fights, but we finally got it done. I reviewed the contract and reviewed Everything, so I think we’re good to sign. So this is it.

“The fight is finally done,” Valencia said about the Garcia vs. Campbell clash. “When you sign that, that’s it. There’s not going to be any going back. If you sign this, it means you’re going to knock Luke Campbell out.”

“I’ll sign it three times then,” said King Ryan on his contract for the Campbell match. “Let’s go, guys. This was a long process. I’m just focused and ready to go. What more is there to say?”

“So Ryan can only fight in November so far,” said Ryan’s mother, Lisa Garcia.

Ryan has recent victories over Francisco Fonseca, Romero Duno, Braulio Rodriguez, and Jose Lopez. Those guys are a couple of steps below Campbell in talent, and they haven’t given Ryan the type of preparation that he needs for this fight.

It’s good that Ryan is so motivated to face Campbell because he’s going to need to be 100% for him to have any chance of winning. Ryan needs a lot more than a left hook for him to compete with Campbell. If Ryan lands that shot, he’s got a chance to KO Campbell, but he’s going to be ready to nullify that.

Garcia Wants To KO Campbell
“It’s complicated when you’re doing a big fight like this because of the COVID situation,” said Valencia on Ryan’s contest against Campbell. “It adds another layer of complications.

We have to do it without fans, and we wish there were fans, but what are you going to do about it? That’s all behind us. We got it done. This is an amazing fight for Ryan. He’s going to silence the world after he knocks Luke Campbell out, and then after that, like they say, ‘He’s on the top of the hill.'”

“I’m so proud of my son. I know he’s been wanting this for a while now,” said Ryan’s father/trainer Henry Garcia. “Everything has been ironed out, and we’re good to go. As Ryan says, ‘Let’s shock the world.'”

“Ater a long day of working out and finally signing the biggest fight of my life and the biggest contract of my life, I’m ready now to get into training,” said Ryan Garcia. ”

You guys are going to watch me train, get ready for this fight. There’s going to be so much boxing content; you guys are not going to believe how many punches I throw. Let’s shock the world, and let’s do this. Let’s knock out Luke Campbell,” said King Ryan.

Garcia is either going to pass this test against Campbell and look great or fail miserably. That’s what a lot of boxing fans are expecting to happen. They believe it’s too soon for Ryan to be facing an advanced fighter like Campbell at this early stage in his career.Although Campbell was fighting top-level guys at the same point in his pro career back in 2017, he had the advantage of a long amateur career with Olympic experience. Ryan doesn’t have that going for him. He’s learning on the job as a pro, and his opposition has been mediocre for the most part.

Ryan is going to need to knock Campbell out if he wants to win this fight because he doesn’t possess the same boxing skills to win a decision, especially if he’s pressured for 12 rounds the way Morales pressed him.
