Former two division world champion Orlando Salido (43-13-4, 30 KOs) will be facing former WBC super featherweight champion Takashi Miura (30-3-2, 23 KOs) on December 17 on HBO at The Forum in Inglewood, California. This is good news. It means there could be three excellent fights coming up with the Salido-Miura fight on December 17, Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Nicholas Walters fight on November 26, and potentially Gennady “GGG” Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs on December 10. Those are all fights on HBO Boxing. It’s great stuff.

Salido hasn’t won a fight in two years since his 11th round stoppage win over Terdsak Kokietgym in September 2014.

You can make a strong argument that Salido should have won his last six fights in the last three years, because I think he deserved wins in both of his fights against Roman Martinez and he definitely deserved the win in his fight against Francisco Vargas. Salido has the worst luck I’ve seen from a boxer before.

Salido vs. Miura should be an interesting fight. Hopefully for Salido’s sake, he doesn’t get robbed of a win yet again like he did in his last two fights against Francisco Vargas and Roman Martinez. Both fights were scored as draws, but Salido appeared to win both of them.

When you look at those fights, the only thing you can think is that maybe the judges were not seeing the fights clearly because Salido definitely won. Salido-Miura will be a good fight if the judges score it correctly. It’s frustrating to watching Salido’s fights nowadays to see how he fails to get wins in fights that he clearly dominates. It’s sad actually. Salido seems to have bad luck in fighting in the United States, because he’s been worked over in his last two fights with the scoring.

“When I talked to Oscar De La Hoya, he said Salido-Miura HBO card on Dec. 17 likely will be a tripleheader. No specific other fighters yet,” said Dan Rafael on his Twitter. In a fight that virtually guarantees wild action, former junior lightweight world titleholders Orlando Salido. So Vasyl Lomachenko – Nicholas Walters and Saldio-Miura are now set. Can HBO notch the hat trick and get GGG-Jacobs done also? [It] will be a great way to end the year. Salido-Miura will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. Perfect venue for such a great fight. # boxing @OscarDeLaHoya @GoldenBoyBoxing.”

Miura, 32, lost his WBC 130lb title to Francisco Vargas by a 9th round knockout last year in November 2015. Miura was fighting well in the first half of the fight. He knocked Vargas down in the 4th round and appeared to be on his way to winning the fight. However, Miura ran out of gas in the 2nd half of the contest and ended up getting stopped in the 9th round.

In Miura’s last fight, he defeated Jimmy Borbon (5-1-2) by a 1st round knockout. That fight was an embarrassment to have someone as experienced and skills as Miura facing a novice with just eight rights under his belt in Borbon. You hate to see mismatches like that in boxing, because it’s not fair.
