WBO #3 Jack Catterall (19-0, 10KO’s) defeats Tyrone Nurse (35, 3, 2, 7KO’s) in a Lancashire/ Yorkshire derby to claim the British super lightweight title by unanimous decision. The 3 judges scored it 118 to 111, 115-114 and 116-113, however Nurse was the home fighter and the 118-111 was probably the fairest scorecard.

IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua says he will be fighting WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder next year in a blockbuster fight. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, however, has given Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs) the conditions for them to get the fight with Joshua by saying he first must face and defeat Dillian Whyte (21-1, 16 KOs).

If Wilder wins that fight, then he can get the Joshua fight.

Cleveland native Abdullah Mason is ready to conquer the boxing world. The lightweight prodigy, who many insiders tabbed as the brightest talent in the American amateur system, is not wasting time. At 17 years old, Mason, part of The Mason Brothers family of fighters, signed a professional contract with Top Rank and will turn pro in a four-rounder Friday, Nov. 5 on the Mikaela Mayer-Maiva Hamadouche undercard at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas (LIVE on ESPN+).

Heavyweight prospect Joe Joyce (1-0, 1 KOs) looked impressive in his pro debut in battering and stopping war horse Ian Lewison (12-4, 8 KOs) in the 8th round of a scheduled 10 round fight at the Indigo at The O2 Arena in London, England.

The 6’6” Joyce hurt the exhausted and flabby looking Lewison with a left to the head in round 8. Joyce then followed up with a series up heavy power shots that led to Lewison’s corner throwing in the towel to have the fight stopped. The official time of the stoppage came at 2:35 of round 8.

Jessie Vargas (27-2, 10 KOs) is not impressed at all with WBO junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto’s decision to end his career with a fight against welterweight Sadam Ali (25-1, 14 KOs) on December 2. HBO Championship Boxing will be televising the Cotto vs. Ali fight in the main event rather than placing it on the undercard.

Former 2-time middleweight world title challenger Gabriel Rosado (23-11, 13 KOs) weighed at 159.8 pounds on Wednesday for his scheduled 10 round fight against Glen Tapia (23-4, 15 KOs) on Thursday night on ESPN2 from the Monte Carlos Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Tapia weighed in at 161 lbs. Both fighters looked good. Rosado, 31, looked like of thin at the weight, which suggests that he’s someone that might be better off fighting at super middleweight at this point in his 11-year pro career.

WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (29-0, 14 KOs) made weight on Friday in coming in at 153.6 pounds for his title defense against his mandatory challenger Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (18-0, 13 KOs) on the Erislandy Lara vs. Terrell Gausha card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Lubin, 22, weighed in at 153.4 lbs.
