DeGale (24-2-1, 14 KOs) is coming off of a controversial 12 round unanimous decision win over IBF champion Caleb Truax last April in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Now that the fight between AJ and Wilder is not the next one but potentially next year let’s look at the options available. Using a basis of 2 fights a year I will speculate as to what could happen and the impacts on each of the fighters career over the potential next 3 fights if they avoid each other.

A name that has gone under the boxing radar for a good number of months is that of Dominic ‘Trouble’ Breazeale (19-1, 17 KOs): a fighter that in 2016 was on the tongues of a lot heavyweight boxing fans as the next challenger and potential threat to the IBF champion ‘AJ’ Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs).

WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez (38-0, 25 KOs) put in a poor performance in defeating #8 WBO challenger Roamer Alexis Angulo 23-1, 20 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the 119-109, 120-108, and 119-109. Boxing News 24 scored it for Ramirez by a 116-112 score.

Hughie (21-1, 11 KOs) is ranked #5 by the International Boxing Federation. He’s the next option for the 37-year-old Pulev to fight if Miller (21-0-1, 18 KOs) decides he doesn’t want it.

Unbeaten fringe contender Callum Johnson (17-0, 12 KOs) believes he hits every bit as hard as IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (12-0, 12 KOs) and he intends on proving it on October 6 when he challenges the two-time Russian Olympian at a still to be determined venue. The 32-year-old Johnson is getting the fight against Beterbiev because the higher rated contenders opted not to take the fight with him due to the danger that he brings.
