DAVAO CITY – Manila Southwoods will take a three-point lead over defending champion Pradera Verde going into the final round of the 13th Philippine Airlines Ladies Interclub golf team championships at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.

Sunshine Baraquiel scored 52 points while Mafy Singson and Annika Guangko added 50 and 48, respectively as Southwoods matched Pradera Verde’s 150-point effort to keep the lead with 460.

DAVAO CITY – Asian Games champion Yuka Saso kicks off Pradera Verde’s title-retention bid Wednesday at the start of the 13th Philippine Airlines Ladies Interclub golf team championships at the Palos Rancho Verdes Golf and Country Club.

The 17-year-old Fil-Japanese will play her first tournament since collecting two gold medals in the recent Asiad in Jakarta, Indonesia.

“Mag-eenjoy lang ako. Tingin ko maganda naman ang tsansa naming,” said Saso who set a record 59 points, five-under in stroke play, last year.

Aside from Saso, Pradera Verde will be backstopped three other Malaysian age-groupers going all out to extend the team’s streak in the tournament slated at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.

Philadelphia—Britain’s Justin Rose could claim the world number one ranking after firing a six-under par 64 Saturday to seize a one-stroke lead entering the final round of the PGA BMW Championship.

The 38-year-old Englishman nabbed six birdies over the opening nine holes and parred through the inward nine to stand on 17-under par 193 after 54 holes at rainy Aronimink Golf Club.
