Forest Hills snatched the WGAP Circuit crown in style, pulling off a rare sweep of all three divisions at home to rally from fifth to the top of the heap at the close of the eight-stage event at the Nicklaus and Palmer courses in Antipolo recently.
Saving their best for last, the hosts pooled 143 Stableford points to beat Camp Aguinaldo by seven in Class A, assembled a 139 to dominate Villamor by 11 points in Class B, and combined for a 153 to thwart Sta. Elena by three in Class C.
With a closing nine-point haul, Forest Hills got past penultimate round leader Sta. Elena, Villamor, last year’s champion Tagaytay Highlands and Camp Aguinaldo to emerge this year’s best in the course-hopping circuit among the top golfing ladies from the country’s leading courses.
Forest Hills edged Sta. Elena by the thinnest of margins, 25-24.
With its runner-up finish in Class C worth two points, Sta. Elena also placed third in Class A to settle for second while Villamor placed third with 21 points, Tagaytay wound up fourth with 19 and Aguinaldo ended up fifth with 18.
The top five also advanced to the WGAP Cup.
Aguinaldo’s Leni Cabili, meanwhile, took the overall individual crown with 274 points, nipping Canlubang’s Theresa Enriquez by one while Villamor emerged the overall Class A champion over Aguinaldo with Forest Hills and Canlubang winner the overall Classes B and C plums over Eagle Ridge and Sta. Elena, respectively.
Rose San Roque fired 39 points, Jonah Ilagan shot a 36 and Yun Haeng “Grace” Cho and Ma. Consuelo Conti backed them up with a pair of 34s as Forest Hills ruled Class A with a 143, seven points ahead of Aguinaldo, which scored a 136 with Sta. Elena finishing third at 130 followed by Tagaytay (129), led by individual winner Chesca Imperial’s 38 points, Canlubang (127) and Alabang (110).
Sohan Uy, on the other hand, led the hosts’ charge in Class B, scoring 38 points with Nelda Roguel firing 37 points and So Young “Maria” Lee and Jong Yeon “Jasmin” Kim each chipping in 32 points for a 139.
Villamor, led by individual champion Maria Dorkas Guerrero’s 33 points, placed second with a 128 while Tagaytay settled for third with a 125 followed by Alabang (22), Eagle Ridge (116), Sta. Elena (114) and Canlubang (103).
Beatrice Ann Que, meanwhile, sizzled with 48 points while Eleanor Leung, Evelyn Alcantara, and Bernadette Jalosjos added 38, 34 and 33 points, respectively, for Forest Hills, which took the Class C diadem with a 153.
Sta. Elena came in second with a 150 while Tagaytay ended up third at 147 followed by Villamor (141), Aguinaldo (138), Alabang (127), Canlubang (116) and Orchard (108) with Valley’s Nemencia Millonado clinching the individual title with 44 points.
Meanwhile, Alabang and Canlubang wound up with identical 11 overall points, Eagle Ridge finished with nine points and Wack Wack wound up with five points.
