A grandson of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan is suffering from severe depression now after news of the murder of Horatio Castillo, a UST law student who died from the Aegis Juris’ hazing.

Robert Louis Pangilinan filed charges of attempted murder against 16 Tau Gamma Phi fraternity members, all currently enrolled as students of Adamson University, where Pangilinan is a third year Hospitality Management student and a member of the basketball team.

Pangilinan was repeatedly threatened and bullied by the fratmen. He was recruited to the fraternity in 2016 on promises that they would stop bullying him. But the bullying and coercing did not stop.

On August 7, he was mauled by 16 frat members because of an incident where Pangilinan was accused of leaking some photos. The young Pangilinan said he was repeatedly punched and slapped, and he even blacked out once. He was also hit with a phone which caused his bloodshot eye. He feared for his life as the members carried bladed weapons.

Two days after, Pangilinan and his parents went to the Las Piñas City Health Office to have his injuries examined by Dr. Arvin C. Marbibi. They filed a case at the NBI with their legal counsel Atty. Alex Avisado.

“We are filing a Criminal Complaint for Attempted Murder under Art. 248 of the Revised Penal Code against Ar-jay Brylle Arao, Flip Qrnt, Gab Ylagan, Daniel Roman, Alvem Bim, Justine Barrameda, Andrew Joseph Ruiz, Em Lanaria, Kenneth Flores, Jasbert Noscal, Ferds Elemancil, Levi Giana, Geeboy Dela Cruz, Marco Sarmiento, Louis Andalio, and John Christopher Domingo,” said Avisado.

Pangilinan’s mother Marissa is praying that Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri’s recommendation for a complete ban on hazing be approved immediately.

“Kailangan matapos na itong bullying at hazing sa lahat ng universities. Anak ko suwerte nabuhay pero  tumigil na siya sa pag-aaral dahil sa banta sa buhay niya,” said the mother.
